Cheap And Easy DIY Camp Trailer Upgrades You Can Do At Home

Whether your camp trailer or RV is brand new or 45 years old, taking on a project to personalize your RV to your liking can be fun, inexpensive, and make your next camping trip just a little more cozy.

One of the more surprising parts about various DIY camp trailer projects is that they can be both relatively inexpensive and avoid taking too much time to complete. After talking to a few veteran campers, we’ve put together a list of some favorite camp trailer DIY projects that they have accomplished over the years. Get ready to be inspired to make your own camp trailer or RV just a little more unique!

Color

If you are interested in painting portions of the interior of your RV or camp trailer, it is possible. The secret is in applying a paint primer that is designed to adhere to the wood-veneer or vinyl wall covering that is in most camp trailers. Not applying that primer first will more than likely result in frustration, and possible a paint mess.

Flooring

You may not know this, but there are various types of flooring surfaces that are peel-and-stick. In a short amount of time you can completely transform the look (and feel) of your trailer/RV’s inside by applying a new flooring surface. The other benefit to this is that you can pick a flooring surface that is great for the areas you typically camp at the most.

Storage

Most camp trailers and RV’s do a decent job with capitalizing on small areas for storage, but there are always things you can do to improve this. Whether that is hanging a shoe hanger over the bathroom door, hanging some closet organizers in your closet, or putting some simple shelves in your cabinets, there are lots of ways to increase your storage options without spending too much time or money. Many of these storage improvements will make a tremendous difference when you are camping.

Most home improvement stores now carry adhesive backing for tile that allow you to simply stick your tiles onto a surface rather than having to put tile up the traditional way. From a variety of surfaces to a large array of colors, there are seemingly endless possibilities with what you could do with tile in your trailer or RV.

Mirrors

It is a commonly known design secret that using mirrors in smaller spaces will make the area feel much larger. Putting some mirrors in your camp trailer or RV can easily do the same. Additionally, depending on the placement of the mirror, it can act as a reflective surface for light coming in from other windows, making the interior of your camp trailer more illuminated.

Bedding

One of the easiest things you can do to make your camp trailer or RV feel more like home is put bedding in it that matches your style at home - or use a current bedding set from home that you love. There are no rules to what pattern or material you have to use while camping, so make it a reflection of your style!

Conclusion

The most important thing to remember during these various projects is to have fun and make your trailer or RV into whatever oasis or extension of your home you wish it to be. Now that you’ve made the inside of your RV a little more cozy and inviting, where are you going to go camping?
